ITD Forum: Deploy or Die

We hosted our first IT Director forum in Leeds last week. This networking forum has existed for nearly 13 years in Scotland and has been a great success. Our forums have always been a relaxed, informal affair, a genuine peer to peer event for CIO’s & IT Directors to meet, converse and discuss a key topic. For this event the discussions focused on “Deploy or Die” – Development Approaches for the Digital Age.

The event was hosted by Martin Ewart, ex-HBOS & Logica (also our non-exec chairman) at the Malmaison in Leeds in a nice private dining room with a three course meal and wine. Our speaker was James Mucklow from PA Consulting and our attendees were from a great cross section of companies.

The conversation ranged wildly from rat catching technology (?!!!) used by Rentokil to smart metering to the internet of things (IOT) and resulted in two hours of great conversation along with challenge and insight.  James did a great job of introducing the topic and setting the tone of the evening. Hopefully all participants felt it was a useful and engaging way to spend a few hours on a very wet night in Leeds.

Our next event is scheduled for February 2017 and will follow a similar format with an interesting topic, a great speaker, some senior IT leaders and great food and wine!
